Updateage

I’ve seriously been neglecting this thing for a while, and for good reason. Busyness has completely taken control of me as of late. I really don’t have much to talk about as most of my time has been spent working on stuff at the house or at work or hanging out with Ashley (which is my fave part).

Just because, I’ll post a pic of me post crashing (I had stopped completely by this time) on my bike today. Today definitely took the cake as to how many crashes have occurred at any given time. Took the camera with me, and determined that this was THE LAST TIME the camera takes a trip on the trail, I hurt from it. 1st crash – camera bag decides to roll in front of me, so I try fixing, end up slamming into a tree with my left arm/shoulder, bruise happens. 2nd crash – over the handlebars, who knew the front brake would lock up so quickly, and that my bike would stand up by itself afterwards. 3rd – (pic included) take the jump, same front brake problem, oh my! Things I learned today: New brakes have WAY more grip than the last ones that were nearly 3 years old. Today was seriously fun despite the crashes and having to ride one-handed for a good portion of the trail so the camera wouldn’t cause another crash.  And yes, I am grimacing in the image, but when you check out the gallery, you’ll notice I’m laughing in seconds.  Yes, stupid.

CRASHISM!

Here it is!

Lots of work and it’s still not done, ergh….

Dining Room – Ultimate color choice by Ashley

“The Open Office” – No WINDOWS in this house (the Xbox doesn’t even run on it)

Bedroom – Inspired by my time at ODU, definitely not Cowboys colors

Living/Bike Room – It’s white, got sick of painting colors

Media Room – Inspired by a dream of race cars (Lotus)

House Birth Certificate – It’s a prefab home!

Deck for Parties

That’s it for right now, it’s taken a lot of time to get all of this up, enjoy!

The formating on this thing sucks.

The Blog goeth the way of the Samurai?

Quick answer, no.

I haven’t updated in a while, that’s a given, but there’s good reason behind all of it.  I haven’t had internet access from the new house, and haven’t had time at the old one to really type anything.  And there’s no way I’ll be trying to type in a blog post at work, that just wouldn’t work.  I’m using my parents computer, that used to be mine, to type out this post.

So I haven’t forgotten and definitely haven’t given up on this thing yet.  The next post will have before and after pictures from the new house.  We’ve been constantly working (i.e. painting, pulling up carpet, cleaning, repeat) on it, and it’s finally showing goodness.  There’s a few things left to do, but it will hopefully be “completed” soon so we can relax.

I  can’t begin to thank my girlfriend and family enough for the help that they’ve provided during the past [crazy] week, all of them are truly special people.  So until next time…don’t forget to floss.

I Haven’t Written In a While…

…because I actually forgot that I was writing a blog.

There’s been a lot of stuff going on lately.  At work things have been ridiculously wild, and I’m not even going to begin to vent about it on here.  Although I will say that I am not to blame for things not working right on the e911 dispatch database, despite what the Police Department would make everyone think.

Elsewhere, the house thing is still going on and I’m still closing on the 29th, a week away.  I’m kinda scared about it, but at the same time the excitedness is making up for it.

Maybe I’ll write another post soon, I don’t want to forget about it again.

As the Weekend Goes

Note:I do realize that I’m writing this 3 days later, so don’t bust my chops

So this past weekend was extremely exciting!!!!!

Saturday Iwent looking at houses in the morning.  Little did I know that by 2pm, I was going to have put an offer on a house that I had visited for the second time in 2 weeks.  By Saturday night the owner had countered my offer.  Sunday, I re-countered and within a few minutes the offer was accepted.  Yippee Kiyaa!!!  If everything goes as planned, I will be closing on the 29th of February. Yes, I am really excitedness.

Saturday I also went MTN biking, again (I’m noticing a trend here), but I got there a little late because of making the offer and the associated paperwork that goes along with it.  Note to anyone who’s looking for a house:  It takes at least an hour to sign and fill out paperwork, I signed my initials probably 2000000 times.  I also went out Saturday night with Ashley and we watched a few MST3K movies and played Guitar Hero III.

Sunday was Super Bowl and what a great day that was too.  Ray posed while playing Rock Band:

Rock Band Ray

Ashley, Ray and myself watched the whole greatest game in recent history.  But there is enough stuff about the Super Bowl on the ‘net already so I won’t bore you.

It has been a great past few days.  I’m happy again.

Nifty trivia if you are interested.  I measured total lane miles of streets in the City of Chesapeake, and guess what?  In a straight line, the city has enough pavement to almost reach San Antonio, TX!  Granted that includes some private streets, but they do not account for much of the total.  I was slightly surprised at the total I came up with.  Maybe I’ll make a map that shows this phenomenon.

I get something in the Mail

So I get home today and this awaits me, my new Smugmug Strap for my camera.  I think I ordered it back in October or so, guess it was backordered.  It’s a little bit nicer than my Nikon strap, the part around you neck is neoprene and it’s soft and stretchy.  The actual strap parts could use some work (I’m not going to complain about it, just pointing it out), they do not seem as “robust” as the Nikon strap.  The part that attaches the neoprene to the  strap has Smugmug and Smiley embossed in the faux (guessing here) leather.  Overall, I think I’d give this a 8 out of ten, just for the cheaply feeling straps, but the neoprene is just vanilla…  I liked my Nikon strap a lot and it’s gotten it’s fair share of use/abuse, now it’s going to be my backup.

Sorry for the poor quality on the emboss photo, I just couldn’t get it to come out right, there’s no good lighting anywhere in the house!

On the Video Note

Found this quite amusing, this is for all the Half-Life fans out there.  Everyone else may appreciate it too…

That got me motivated, think I’ll go play Half-Life 2 now, or maybe Portal, yeah, well at least something on the Orange Box disk maybe, ergh….I don’t know Call of Duty 4 is tempting, mwuhahaha.

My 2 day weekend

This weekend it was back to normalness, or as close to that as possible.  Friday night I watched WAR (starring Jet Li and Jason Statham), it was not as great as it could have been.  In fact, it was kind of a weird movie, there was a lot of potential for the movie, but it never even came close to using it.  There was a slight twist that was, at least to me, totally unexpected.  I’ll let you sit through the torturous minutes to witness it though, this blog contains no spoilers so far.

Saturday saw me looking at/adventuring into houses with my agent.  So far there is two really good deals I’ve found.  They are actually really close to each other which I think is strange, but other than that, both seem like they would  be worth the investment.  I’m very excited (!!!) at getting a house.  Saturday night was wrapped up by attending the Admirals hockey game, which they lost in overtime.  The game was fun and beforehand, Ray, Katherine and myself enjoyed going to Jillian’s and A.J. Gator’s.

Sunday I went to church, which I hadn’t been to in a while.  Afterwards, I tried to rally the crew together to go MTN biking.  Didn’t work out so well, so it ended up being just me and my brother Kyle.  We still had a good time and I got him to do a little downhill section.  Now he’s excited about being able to actually do something on a MTN bike besides ride it on the dirt.  Made me feel good because I didn’t have to persuade or bribe him to do it either, he just did it on his own.

And now for something completely different.

If you don’t want to see that movie, you must be crazy.  I’m thinking it will be pretty good, not quite as awesome as “Ricky-oh the Story of Ricky,” but close enough.

My Four Day Weekend

As always, having a four (4) day weekend is a great thing.  Since the City now follows state holidays, we had Friday off for Lee-Jackson Day, and today it was closed for MLKJ Day.  Friday I pretty much took it easy and didn’t do much.  I did visit my cousin, the real estate agent, and got a few houses to look at.   Things look good for that, there are several houses I’ll be looking at in the next week or so.  I also put my new tremolo block on my guitar and it’s freakin’ sweet.  Great sustain that was not present before and the guitar is leaps and bounds above my previous customized version of it.

On Saturday, Matt and I went mountain biking at Ipswitch in the cold cold rain.  Good ride, but we were soaking wet afterwards.  Of course, this furthers my passion at wanting another mountain bike that withstand drops more than a couple feet.  I’m looking at building a bike, but also looking at a good deal on an already built bike, we’ll see where this ends up going, I just know that either way it’s going to be $$$$. If anyone likes, I’m aiming at an already built Santa Cruz Heckler or maybe, just maybe I’ll be building with either a Yeti or Intense frame.

Saturday night I got totally hammered and spent all day Sunday recovering from my mistake-o-rama.  I knew it went bad when I woke up at Matt & Lisa’s house and had no idea how I got there.  I know I didn’t drive anywhere at least.  Guess I didn’t do too much stupid stuff because I still have all my appendages, no scrapes or scars and still have my wallet.  Ergh…it was just a little too much this time, and it’ll be awhile before I can handle that much again.  Leason Learned, again…again.

Until next time kidos, peace out.

Durnken Post

So I’m not really drunk. I just thought I’d get your attention. I’ve had some trouble sleeping lately, and thought I’d just post something since I couldn’t really come up with anything better to do other than stay awake in bed and look at the ceiling, boring. I really wish that I could figure out why I can’t sleep. I’ve tried not putting additives in my coffee (which I don’t usually do anyway, but thought that it might have been the problem), not drinking coffee period, not staying up late, not doing much during the day (which seemed worse than any other method) and several other attempts at making me more tired or able to wake up and feel ok. I’ve always said I was blessed with the ability to wake up and feel like I’ve got a good nights sleep not matter how many hours of sleep I had got the night previous. Lately, that has not always been correct unfortunately. Several days in the past week I’ve been awaken by my alarm after it has been on for several minutes and when I do awake, I feel like I need another 12 hours of sleep. I haven’t changed anything drastic in my habits or other things I regularly do that should have an effect on my sleep or ability to wake up and feel 100% for the day. Maybe I can just blame it on Mexico and the inability to get used to PST or get back on EST, sure that’s what I’ll do ;-)

Anyone else feel like this or other than their usual self in the mornings? This is weird that it’s just happened in the past 2 weeks or so to me. Hopefully, it will go back to normal and everything will be alright, I do not want to have to visit a doctor for any reason. It could be that I need to get back to my previous year of staying up till 2am everyday and waking up at 6:30am that I had grown accustomed to. Guess that’s the next thing to try…

Anybody got suggestions?
